As many of you are already aware, reddit has announced significant upcoming changes to their API that will have a serious impact to many users. There is currently a planned protest across hundreds of subreddits to black out on June 12th. The moderators at /BudgetBlades have been discussing our participation, and while we’ve come to a vote and agreement internally, we wanted to ensure that whatever action we take is largely supported by our community. What’s Happening

Third Party reddit apps (such as Apollo, Reddit is Fun and others) are going to become ludicrously more expensive for it’s developers to run, which will in turn either kill the apps, or result in a monthly fee to the users if they choose to use one of those apps to browse. Put simply, each request to reddit within these mobile apps will cost the developer money. The developers of Apollo were quoted around $2 million per month for the current rate of usage. The only way for these apps to continue to be viable for the developer is if you (the user) pay a monthly fee, and realistically, this is most likely going to just outright kill them. Put simply: If you use a third party app to browse reddit, you will most likely no longer be able to do so, or be charged a monthly fee to keep it viable. NSFW Content is no longer going to be available in the API. This means that, even if 3rd party apps continue to survive, or even if you pay a fee to use a 3rd party app, you will not be able to access NSFW content on it. You will only be able to access it on the official reddit app. Additionally, some service bots (such as video downloaders or maybe remindme bots) will not be able to access anything NSFW. In more major cases, it may become harder for moderators of NSFW subreddits to combat serious violations such as CSAM due to certain mod tools being restricted from accessing NSFW content. Many users with visual impairments rely on 3rd-party applications in order to more easily interface with reddit, as the official reddit mobile app does not have robust support for visually-impaired users. This means that a great deal of visually-impaired redditors will no longer be able to access the site in the assisted fashion they’re used to. Many moderators rely on 3rd-party tools in order to effectively moderate their communities. When the changes to the API kicks in, moderation across the board will not only become more difficult, but it will result in lower consistency, longer wait times on post approvals and reports, and much more spam/bot activity getting through the cracks. In discussions with mods on many subreddits, many longtime moderators will simply leave the site. While it’s tradition for redditors to dunk on moderators, the truth is that they do an insane amount of work for free, and the entire site would drastically decrease in quality and usability without them. 

What's the plan?
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.
What can you do?

Complain. Message the mods of reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post. Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at ModCoord - but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail. Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support! Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible. This includes not harassing moderators of subreddits who have chosen not to take part: no one likes a missionary, a used-car salesman, or a flame warrior. 

Open Letter to reddit & Blackout
In lieu of what’s happening above, an open letter has been released by the broader moderation community, and gaming will be supporting it. Part of this initiative includes a potential subreddit blackout (meaning the subreddit will be privatized) on June 12th, lasting 48 hours or longer.

Like you, I was having a lot of trouble fixing my issues with FPS drop and low CPU core usage. One thing leading to another, I quickly realized that the compatibility with my graphics card was not optimal (5700xt from AMD), but I didn't stop there: My processor being very good (3900x from AMD), I couldn't believe that I couldn't run the game at least at very low 60 fps.
I had the idea to isolate New World, that is to say make sure that New World uses some of my cores, and that it alone (or almost) is the only one to use them.
So I went through a lot of research, up to the process lasso software, which is supposed to allow us to dedicate cores to a process. Unfortunately, this was impossible, because EAC (Easy Anti Cheat) prevented assigning cores to this process.
So I inquired, I scoured all reddit, many people said to assign cores to steam so that the game launched has assigned the same number of cores. But unfortunately it didn't work with New World, to get around the EAC that prevented doing that. And a flash of lucidity crossed me, I simply assigned the cores to the executable LauncherNewWorld.exe, instead of NewWorld.exe with Process Lasso, and the assignment of cores was transmitted from one executable to the 'other.
Now my FPS are more stable, and i can stream easily.
Here, I let you learn about how to use Process Lasso, there are many guides on that. This won't solve your worries, but at least add a lot of optimization regarding CPU usage.

The Woodpecker is in great shape lightly used on tape/boxes no sharpening. There’s a bit of wear on the handle where it goes in and out of the kydex sheath.
The Bradford Guardian 3.5 in 3v is lightly used no sharpening. Comes with bonus kydex sheath that seems to have some cosmetic damage.
The Toor Suitor was a recent buy on here. I disassembled it, cleaned the red lock tite out of the pivot and oiled it to no avail. No amount of screw turning helps the stuck action on here. Blade is in great shape and only visible wear is on the clip and thumb studs. You cannot flick this open. I can only open this two handed.
The Scuba Diving knife seems to have a little use on it.

Have you done swim lessons at sf YMCA for a toddler? Good experience? Do you remember why the instructor to student ratio is? The Y website lacks details.

Because of exams and having to study my bf and I have not been able to meet up in rl for several days now. The only contact we have now is through online chatting.
Whenever I miss him, I tell him. Sometimes I just want to sent a daily reminder that he’s cute and he means a lot to me. Or that i’m excited to spend summer together. I like to share my thoughts now and then with him.
My bf however chat much and leaves me on read ranging from 5-10h. I think it’s because he is also busy with exam preparations. I don’t mind if he’s busy but I like the important updates of what is going on in his day so i don’t wonder in uncertainty. Something like
“I’ll be studying now, talk around … maybe”
or
“Won’t be able to text much today, but will send goodnight when going to sleep”
or
“You are prob sleeping right now, but still i like to tell u a little about my day because I wanna make sure you don’t worry about me”
Small things like these make me feel assured and that he is doing okay and that we are still good.
Because I have a problem of overthinking if he doesn’t text me for long hours or only short replies/takes a while to respond, I don’t know what he’s thinking or has been doing all day and it causes me to create scenarios in my head.
For example, that he’s mad at me or doesn’t care enough to give me updates. He doesn’t like me anymore or he has had an accident and is in the hospital. I can go on about all the possible scenarios. It’s making me feel anxious, worried and sad (I don’t bother him with these thoughts, cause i know he’s busy and me telling him i overthink makes me overthink telling him i overthink and that i made it worse by telling). Why am i like this :(
In real life we don’t have these problems, because i can directly ask him things and he just tells me if what i was thinking was true or not or he just hugs me a lot to reassure me. It also helps in rl I can tell by his face what he is feeling or thinking better. So in real life our relationship is wonderful and he is just the best.
I just create problems in my head when something feels different about the way he texts usually (before the busy exam period his texting was better)
So any advise what I can do best or similar stories of overthinking when a partner doesn’t respond for long periods? Thanks for taking the time to read!

Hi friends, I'm a 40 year old with autism living in the States and money/finances is just a really difficult concept for me.
I only just began building credit by getting a secured card last year in 2022. I also managed to get approved for the worst, most criminally insane car loan. Today, I now owe 125% of what my car is worth, $17k. Other than that, I have no debt besides a random hospital bill.
Within the next week, a 50k inheritance is being wired into my account. This account has less than $20 in it with no savings right now. So I'm going crazy trying my best to not let it go to waste.
I have three questions that I just don't know who to ask. If you have some time to bring a little wisdom into my life here by answering, I promise, I'll take your advice to heart and really really try my best to execute.

1. What the hell do I do about this stupid, stupid car? I got this Kia after I was struck by a car while riding my crappy Walmart bike to work in the middle of the night (I live somewhere with 0 public transportation, 0 sidewalks, and can't afford ride-sharing services). Had a nervous breakdown and agreed to a batshit crazy 3 year loan out of desperation. I'm aware this is a system designed to fail, but how do I get out of it?? Do I just...pay the remaining 17k all at once? The idea of that makes me a little sick, but if it's the best outcome, I'll do it
   
2. My living situation is not good. The home I'm in sucks in every way, from location to expense to the HOA and it's horrible condition (inlaws were hoarding alcoholics for 25+ years here and still have 70k left on the mortgage, if that helps you understand why I won't stay here and agree to inherit this debt-trap when FIL dies). With this kind of windfall, is it wise to invest in some land with a used mobile home, maybe? I can't really afford anything like a proper house or even a townhome long term, probably. Moving is a HUGE priority but it can wait since I'm not paying much rent here where I am now.
   
3. Investments? Do I even really consider this right now? Or do I just create a savings account and don't touch what I'm not in immediate, urgent need of?
   

I do not plan on aaaaany kind of treat, vacation, tattoo, or other ridiculous spending with this money. I'd like to use it to it's maximum power to turn my life around...where do I even start?
I know this is hugely messy and maybe no one can answer my questions. If you can't, can you direct me to a resource? Really any lead at all, I'll be all over it.

Hi! I’m in the market for my first mirrorless camera. I love photography, but have neglected it as hobby these past few years. I’m traveling a lot this year and figured now is the time to get back into it.
I’m trying to pick the best mirrorless camera around $1000, recognizing that possibility getting a second lens will increase the cost. My priority is photo quality — especially for nature photography. I don’t do vlogging or anything like that.
I’ve tentatively narrowed it down to the Sony A6400, Sony A7 II, and Nikon Z 50. Any suggestions among those three? Or if I’m missing any other great options in the same price range, I’m open to suggestions. Thanks for the advice!

I [m30] have been dating my current GF [f27] for 7 months and things have been going really well and we have been getting more and more serious. We communicate wonderfully and I feel comfortable asking any question I need to but I'm not always sure I'm asking the right thing. Her ex BF [m31], who is also her best friend, has recently moved into her shared apartment. He does not want to meet me despite my desire to meet him and I need advice or suggestions on what to do. For context I am white, my GF is international (from China), and her ex BF is also international (from China).
My GF and her ex BF were dating for 2 years (they lived together) before they broke up and there was a 1.5 year gap before meeting and starting to date me. In the interim she had a fling with another man who is no longer in the picture. After breaking up with her BF she remained close friends with him and currently sees him as one of her best friends.
After my GF and her ex BF broke up, she moved into another apartment with 4 tenets and her ex moved to a different state for a job but they remained close friends.
Two months ago, her ex lost his job, and he moved into one of the vacant positions in the apartment. My GF did not tell me he moved in, I had to find out on my own when I visited one time.
My GF does not spend much time at the apartment. She spends nearly every weekend with me at my house and works from home from my house Monday and Friday. She is required to go into her office 3 days a week and stays at her apartment for those 3 days. I trust her to be honest with me whenever I ask questions (she is a terrible liar and knows it) but does not always offer info on her own. We have had discussions about her communication and she has been more open since this. She really seems like she is committed to our relationship and willing to work on herself.
I have been anxiously waiting to meet the ex BF since he is close friends with my GF and she has mentioned him multiple times since we have been dating, discussing aspects of their friendship etc.
Yesterday I found out the reason why we have never met. He does not want to meet or see me at all. Apparently he even got mad at my GF one time that I came over to their apartment and she did not adequately warn him I was coming so he could go hide in his room. I have never met or seen or spoken to him. She told me she asked him why he does not want to meet me and apparently he just didn't give a reason, according to my GF. I find this behavior odd since my GF seems to think they are good friends but I'm not sure a good friend would behave this way. If they are truly just good friends, I would think there should be no problem with us meeting.
I think a big part of her continued friendship with him is their shared cultural background and shared experience coming to the USA. I really don't want to get in the way of that aspect of their relationship or make her feel like she should abandon her friend.
My GF feels stuck in the middle because she wants me to be happy and wants me to meet him, but also wants to respect her friends decision to never meet me and she does not want to push him to meet me. The fact that he is her ex BF makes everything more confusing.
Does anyone have any similar experiences or advice on how I should be feeling about this? I didn't really have a problem with him moving into their apartment since they are just friends and she spends so much time with me, but his lack of desire to meet me is really raising some red flags. Any help would be appreciated. I am feeling very insecure about the whole situation.

I absolutely love going to the beach because it makes me feel really happy and sad at the same time. While I'm there I love talking to people about life and the meaning of it. Funny enough, although I absolutely love watching cartoons and anime I can't get myself to read manga. I am trying to buy two bikes for my family. A guy is selling two for $600 as deal. The first is giant escape large with sram components. Some cosmetic damage, but nothing significant. He said it drives very smooth. The second is giant roam 3 medium size in almost new condition. Disc brakes and factory hardware. That one have no damage at all. Would that be a good deal?
